Gym Apparel Manufacturer for Training Brands

New Dong Huang makes gym wear and workout clothes for training brands: gym shorts, compression tights, training tops, sports bras and layers built for lifting, HIIT, running and functional fitness racing.

Training gear takes more abuse than most activewear. We develop fabric, fit and construction for movement, sweat and abrasion, then produce in our factory in Dongyang, China. For running-specific styles, see our shorts page.

Why training brands work with NDH

Gym wear has to survive squats, sled pushes and wall balls, then look good after fifty washes.

Audited and certified

Our factory in Dongyang has passed New Balance’s factory audit and holds BSCI and WRAP certification.

Fabric first

We have made activewear since 1999 and started out in fabric. We develop gym wear with the fabric, not around it, and keep recycled options in our fabric library.

Fewer sample rounds

We fit every style in 3D before cutting, and our design team in Australia works with brands in the region on fit, colour and range planning.

How gym apparel manufacturing works

The same five steps for every new style.

  1. Brief

Send a tech pack, a reference sample or a sketch with your target price.

  2. Fabric & colour

We propose fabrics from our library or source your nominated mill, then send lab dips for approval.

  3. Sample

We fit the style in 3D first, then make a physical sample for your approval.

  4. Bulk & QC

Pre-production sample, inline checks during sewing and a final inspection before packing.

  5. Ship

Packed to your labelling and carton specs and shipped to brands in the US, Australia, the UK and Europe.

What to decide before you make gym wear

Design for the movement

Lifting, HIIT and functional fitness racing load a garment differently from running. Deep squats need opaque, high-recovery fabric; sled pushes and burpees wear the knees and thighs; running between stations needs shorts that don’t ride up. Tell us what your customer actually does in the gym.

Abrasion and pilling

Training gear rubs against bars, benches and floors. Ask for abrasion and pilling results on the fabric before you approve it, and wash-test the sample. How quick-dry performance is tested.

Sweat and odour

Polyester blends dry faster; nylon blends feel softer. Anti-odour finishes and mesh zones help tops and bras that are worn hard. Choose by the sweat level of the workout, not by the fabric name.

Pockets and fit details

Phone pockets, key pockets and liners are the most requested details. Place them where they won’t bounce or dig in under load, and check them on a moving fit model, not just a mannequin.

Gym apparel FAQ

What is the minimum order for custom gym wear?

500 pieces per colour per style.

Which fabrics work best for gym wear?

Polyester/spandex knits for tops and tights because they wick sweat fast, nylon/spandex for a softer feel, and 4-way stretch wovens for training shorts. Recycled options are available.

Can you make squat-proof leggings and tights?

Yes. We use opaque knits for training bottoms and check opacity at sampling. Tell us how you test and we test the same way.

Do you make gear for functional fitness racing?

Yes. We make hybrid shorts, compression tights, training tops and bras that suit mixed running and strength workouts, such as HYROX-style races.

Do you offer private label gym wear?

Yes. Start from our training styles and fabrics, then add your colours, logo, labels and packaging.

Can you match a gym short or tight we already sell?

Yes. Send the reference and your tech pack; we match fit, fabric weight and stretch, and can suggest upgrades.

Where is your factory?

In Dongyang, Zhejiang province, China. We work with brands in the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Europe.
