Running shorts usually use a lightweight stretch woven that dries fast; training shorts often use a slightly heavier 4-way stretch woven for durability. Recycled polyester wovens are a good option if sustainability matters to your customers.
Choose between a brief liner, a compression liner (2-in-1) or no liner. Compression liners can carry phone and gel pockets, which runners value. The liner fabric should be softer and more breathable than the outer.
Racing shorts sit around 3 inches with side splits for stride; training shorts are usually 5 to 7 inches; everyday shorts go longer. Decide inseams per size, not just for the sample size.
Zip back pockets, side phone pockets and waistband key pockets are the most requested. Bonded hems and laser-cut vents give a cleaner, lighter finish than stitched hems. Reflective logos help in low light.
